About the Role
Do you enjoy working with your hands while making a difference in someone’s daily life? Join CAYV as a Home and Yard Assistant and help an older gentleman living with Alzheimer’s disease, hearing loss, and vision impairment feel safe, supported, and comfortable at home.
This unique role combines light handyman work, seasonal yard care, and meaningful companionship — all aimed at creating a safe and welcoming living environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic home maintenance and light handyman tasks
- Complete seasonal yard work (mowing, trimming, leaf cleanup, snow removal)
- Assist with organization, tidying, and light lifting around the house
- Offer respectful companionship and engaging conversation
- Help maintain a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment
Requirements
- Experience with seniors or individuals with cognitive/sensory impairments a plus
- Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
- Physically able to handle manual labor and outdoor tasks
- Reliable transportation to client’s home
Position Details
- Part-time: Average of 10 hours per week
- Location: Ulster, PA (W Burlington Twp)
Compensation: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
